Slopification
We're so familiar with enshittification now that subcategories are starting to appear. One I've been thinking of recently is what I'm calling slopification.
Here's a definition for future etymologists.
slopification /ˌslɒpɪfɪˈkeɪʃən/ (slop-ih-fih-KAY-shun)
noun
The gradual drowning of the web and other media in low-quality, AI-generated content. The process where useful, thoughtful content gets buried under generic slurry optimised for algorithms rather than humans.
"The slopification of Google search results has made it basically impossible to find genuine product reviews."
Etymology: Mid-2020s, from slop (n.), the grey mush of low-quality AI-generated content flooding the internet, + -ification. A subcategory of Cory Doctorow's enshittification (2022).
