Grokipedia
I came across Grokipedia today. This is the most depressing app launch I’ve read about in a while.
Version 1.0 will be 10X better, but even at 0.1 it’s better than Wikipedia imo.
Oh, really? I tried a few Wikipedia-like searches for countries, brands and people and the responses felt like maximum slop to me. According to Grok itself:
Grokpedia leverages xAI's Grok to synthesize knowledge from diverse sources, prioritizing maximum truth-seeking over consensus-driven editing. Wikipedia, by contrast, depends on volunteer editors whose biases—often left-leaning—can distort entries on controversial topics.
And there it is. Wikipedia is “woke” and "distorted". Grok – trained by slurping Wikipedia, Twitter, along with every possible dark corner of the public web – is "prioritising maximum truth-seeking". What a load of cobblers. It's just another desperate AI shill from Musk to try and keep up with the commercial AI big boys. Just stick to cars and robots, man!
Use the power of AI as a research tool, of course, but please continue to support Wikipedia and the broader human web where you can.
