The pace of change is China this century is remarkable. Chongqing is now the biggest city on earth. I was there in 2001 when it felt like a backwater, albeit still with millions of inhabitants. We took a boat and headed down the Yangtze to the Three Gorges on a tour entirely in Chinese (it was 10x cheaper than the international tourist option). I wonder what this “port” looks like today.
