I recently removed the free plan from my micro-blogging-by-email app Pagecord because the vast majority of signups were linkjackers or spammers. I'm kinda regretting the decision. 

I could reopen the floodgates and manually wrangle all the dodgy signups, but that's no fun. I'm wondering instead whether I should make the basic account accessible with a one-off payment, like $15 or something.  

I still want to charge $35/yr (which maybe should be more like $15/yr?) for the premium account because it involves processing and storing images, but the basic account should be as cheap as possible to deter the spammers.
